James Ward (England, 1769-1859): Fishermen, mezzotint engraved by James Ward after a Painting by George Morland. Published by J.R. Smith, 1793. Unframed, mounted to matboard. Gallery label from Doll and Richard's Inc, and note in pencil verso. Stormy coastal scene with figures returning from fishing; man, two children, and donkey carrying baskets, accompanied by dog, two men pulling small boat onto shore behind; gulls circling overhead.
24 x 28 inches mat.
Very aged condition with foxing and toning throughout; the paper is hinged to mat board; old mounting tape residue verso; edges of paper show grime.
