Circle of Il Guercino (Cento 1591-Bologna 1666) Study for a woman and a man
The typology of the design suggests a possibly Italian work from the first half of the 17th century. This drawing should be related to the models proposed by Guercino, especially the woman on the left of this composition, which can be related to his Saint Barbara (canvas, 128 x 100 cm, Milan, private collection) and the general arrangement and poses of both the woman and the man, who seems to accompany her (if it is not intended for another work), with definitive paintings such as The Healing of Saint Sebastian (canvas, 179 x 255 cm, Bologna, Pinacoteca Nazionale). This drawing deserves a detailed study.
