RUSSIAN PAINTING OF BUKHARA ATTR. RICHARD ZOMMER
Attributed to Richard Zommer, Russian, 1866 to 1934, City of Bukhara, colored chalk and crayon on paper, unframed, signed and titled on the bottom. Provenance: Trinity International Auctions, 01.24.2015, Lot 190. Richard-Karl Karlovich Zommer was a Russian painter, one of the founders of the Tiflis Society of Fine Arts. He is the author of numerous paintings and graphic works, mainly of a genre and ethnographic nature. In his works, he depicted both domestic and battle scenes, as well as views of architectural monuments of Turkestan and landscapes of the old quarters of Tashkent, Bukhara, Samarkand. Currently, the works of R. K. Zommer are in the collections of the State Russian Museum, the Omsk Regional Museum of Fine Arts, the Tula Regional Art Museum, and many others.
