RUSSIAN SOVIET PAINTING SIGNED BY V. KHODASEVICH
Valentina Khodasevich, Russian, Soviet, 1894 to 1970, an avant garde double-sided watercolor on paper painting depicting a theater costume design. Signed in the Cyrillic lower right. A painting depicting an old man with a child in his lap on verso. Unframed. Valentina Mikhailovna Khodasevich was a Soviet painter, theater designer and graphic artist. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Studied painting in 1908-1910 in the Sunday classes of the Stroganov School and the school of F. I. Rerberg. Then she continued her studies in Munich at the studio of G. Habermann, 1910-1911, and in Paris at the Vitti Academy with K. Van Dongen, 1911-1912. Returning to Moscow in 1912, Khodasevich worked in the studio of V. E. Tatlin on Ostozhenka, participated in exhibitions of the Union of Youth, Jack of Diamonds, Mir Iskusstva and others.
