FRENCH RURAL OIL PAINTING BY JOSEPH INGUIMBERTY
Joseph Inguimberty, French, 1896 to 1971, oil painting on canvas depicting a Vietnamese rural scene with a female figure. Signed, lower left. Framed. Joseph Inguimberty was a French painter, and teacher at the Ecole des Beaux Arts de lIndochine in Hanoi 1926 to 1945. His teaching was appreciated for being less academic than the director Victor Tardieu. He shared with Tardieu a keen interest in Vietnam's culture.
