DAUNIAN POTTERY KYATHOS - Ca. 500-400 BC.A terracotta kyathos with a broad, rounded body, and an arched handle that protrudes vertically from the edge of the rim. The upper part of the vessel is decorated with brown-painted bands. The same brown paint was used to decorate the handle with linear designs. The kyathos was used for scooping and pouring liquids, such as wine or oil, during meals and festivities.Size: 100mm x 100mm; Weight: 175g Provenance: Property of a North London gentleman; from a European Collection of Italic native pottery, France, bought in Paris in the 1990s.
