EGYPTIAN NEW KINGDOM STATUETTE OF PRINCESS OR QUEEN
Ca. 1292 - 1189 BCAn amazing Egyptian limestone figure depicting a princess or a queen from the XIXth Dynasty. The woman presents in an ankle-length sheath dress with long diagonal folds. She has bent arms on her chest and large shoulders in the fashion of the New Kingdom. The role of Divine Adoratrice was one of power and prestige, myriad temple duties, and lifelong celibacy. However, her influence over much of the Egyptian political landscape was undeniable. Her primary charge was to oversee the transfer of power from one pharaoh to the next, typically as his daughter and was also a manager of his consorts.
