EGYPTIAN STEATITE STATUETTE OF AMENOPHIS IV WITH CARTOUCHE
Ca. 1375 - 1356 BCA rare and exemplary steatite statue of the Pharaoh Amenophis IV. The figure strides forward, wearing a pleated skirt, as rigid arms hang from his square shoulders. The left arm is bent and he is holding a scepter. His bare upper body exhibits a slender waist and strong pectorals, along with an incised navel. A false beard extends on his chest. Rich with artistic virtuosity, the sculpted detail of this piece is simply stunning. The statuette is supported by a back-inscribed pillar adorned with the cartouche of the pharaoh.
