ROMAN BRONZE STATUETTE OF STANDING VENUS - Ca. AD 100 - 200 A magnificent bronze statue of Venus, the Roman goddess of love and beauty. Venus is depicted in a pose similar to the famous Aphrodite of Knidos statue by Praxiteles. The statue stands in contrapposto with her left leg bent at the knee. Her left arm hangs by her side while her right arm is bent at the elbow, holding an object that may be a mirror. The statue has a beautiful green patina which is complimented by the green grain in the base.
