PAIR OF EGYPTIAN HOLLOW GOLD HEMISPHERIC FINIALS WITH THE CARTOUCHE OF THE KING SENEFERKARA XIV - Ca. 1720 - 1630 BCA pair of Egyptian gold, hollow hemispheric cylinder seal finials. There is a central hole to set up for the rope or chain. The cartouche is inscribed with the king Seneferkara (XIV Dynasty BC). This sovereign is known only through the so-called Royal Canon of Turin, a papyrus with a list of the Pharaohs dating to the XIXth Dynasty. In this papyrus, due to a gap, the king's name lacks the hieroglyph “kA”, which is instead present in this piece. Egyptian cylinder seals were small, cylindrical objects intricately carved and primarily used during the Early Dynastic and Old Kingdom periods.Size: 25-28mm x 25-28mm; Weight: 4gProvenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex.
