ACHAEMENID BRONZE BULL SHAPED RYHTON
Ca. 500 - 300 BCAn Achaemenid bronze rhyton with a bull head and a conical body. The body is elaborately decorated with bands of horizontally set lines, vertical lines, and curvilinear motifs, creating a fabulous geometric effect. The stylised head features perched horns, almond-shaped eyes, and a carefully delineated snout. The rhyton is an amazing form imbued with a gorgeous brown patina developed over the ages.Size: 175mm x 130mm; Weight: 850gProvenance: Property of a West London gentleman; previously in a collection formed on the UK/International art market in the 1990s.
