KHORASAN OIL LAMP WITH BIRD HANDLE
Ca. AD 1100 - 1300.A copper-alloy oil lamp with a bird-shaped handle terminal and an attractive green patina. The lamp stands on a wide, splayed foot, and features a large protruding spout. The oil compartment is topped with a feline head. Each section of the lamp is densely engraved with Kufic inscriptions, rectangular aviary panels, arabesque palmettes, a vegetal trellis, and geometric fretwork bands.Size: 255mm x 240mm; Weight: 1.45kgProvenance: Property of an Oxfordshire art professional; previously in an old British collection, formed in the 1980s on the UK.
