The auction showcases an excellent array of excellent marbles, jewellery, seals and antiquities from the Egyptian, Roman, Greek, Viking, Medieval and Western Asiatic cultures ranging between 9th century BC to 14th century AD. The sale will be held live at our Central London showroom, 63 ? 64 Margaret Street, W1W 8SW, and online via the Apollo Art Auctions platform at 1 p.m. GMT. The auction boasts strong provenances, coming from collections of Axel Guttmann, Nahum Goldmann, Joseph Klein, Countess Adelheid Lanckoronska, Elie Borowski, Marilynn Alsdorf, Mr. & Mrs. Carl Tautenhahn, the Estate of Elliott Golub, Winnetka, Alison Barker and Mrs B. Ellison. PTOLEMAIC GOLD SNAKE BRACELET
Ptolemaic Period, Ca. 332 - 30 BC. A gold 21 ct bracelet shaped like a snake features five coils, with the head and tail crafted in realistic detail, showing individually engraved scales. The body has a smooth band section in the middle. For similar see: Christie's, Live Auction 2771, Ancient Jewelry, Lot. 270. Size: 90mm x 60mm; Weight: 45g. Provenance: Private London collection, acquired on the London art market in the 1980s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter. This piece is accompanied by an authentication statement by Sami Fortune, ancient jewellery specialist.
