The auction boasts strong provenances, coming from collections of Axel Guttmann, Nahum Goldmann, Joseph Klein, Countess Adelheid Lanckoronska, Elie Borowski, Marilynn Alsdorf, Mr. & Mrs. Carl Tautenhahn, the Estate of Elliott Golub, Winnetka, Alison Barker and Mrs B. Ellison. EGYPTIAN BRONZE SHREW-MOUSE
Late Period to Ptolemaic Period, Ca. 664 - 30 BC. A bronze shrew-mouse cast as a freestanding figurine. The animal features a long tail, large ears, bulging eyes, and a characteristic long snout. For similar see: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Accession Number: 04.2.656; The Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest, Inventory number 79.12-E. Size: 85mm x 30mm; Weight: 55g. Provenance: Property of an Oxfordshire art professional; previously in an old British collection, formed in the 1980s on the UK / International art markets.
