The auction boasts strong provenances, coming from collections of Axel Guttmann, Nahum Goldmann, Joseph Klein, Countess Adelheid Lanckoronska, Elie Borowski, Marilynn Alsdorf, Mr. & Mrs. Carl Tautenhahn, the Estate of Elliott Golub, Winnetka, Alison Barker and Mrs B. Ellison. GNATHIAN OINOCHOE WITH VINES MOTIF AND FLOWERS
Ca. 350 - 300 BC. A black-glazed oinochoe featuring a trefoil lip. Decorated with white vine leaves and tendrils on the shoulder, alternating with white rosettes along the body. The design is complemented by a reserved band encircling the base. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number 1814,0704.591. Size: 190mm x 110mm; Weight: 400g. Provenance: Property of a central London gallery, previously acquired on the Dutch art market; previously acquired on the Belgium art market; Daniel Bogaerts, Brussels, 1995.
