The auction boasts strong provenances, coming from collections of Axel Guttmann, Nahum Goldmann, Joseph Klein, Countess Adelheid Lanckoronska, Elie Borowski, Marilynn Alsdorf, Mr. & Mrs. Carl Tautenhahn, the Estate of Elliott Golub, Winnetka, Alison Barker and Mrs B. Ellison. GNATHIAN RIBBED OINOCHOE WITH VINES MOTIF AND FLOWERS
Ca. 300 BC. A black-glazed ribbed oinochoe with a round lip, decorated with white vine leaf and tendril motifs on the neck. The body displays vertical ridges topped with red circle. A reserved band encircles the foot. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number 1873,0820.316. Size: 150mm x 110mm; Weight: 220g. Provenance: Property of a central London gallery, previously acquired on the Dutch art market; previously acquired on the Belgium art market; Daniel Bogaerts, Brussels, 1995.
