Apollo Art Auctions is proud to announce the ?Fine Ancient Art & Antiquities ? The Prince Collection? sale. Commencing on the 26th of January at 1 p.m. GMT. The auction showcases a spectacular array of antiquities from the Egyptian, Roman, Greek, Viking, Medieval and Western Asiatic cultures ranging between 6000 BC to 1600 AD. The sale will be held live at our Central London showroom, 63 ? 64 Margaret Street, W1W 8SW, and online via the Apollo Art Auctions platform. The auction boasts items from the Prince collection from lot 1 to lot 261, as well as other incredible provenances such as the collections of Jacques Carre, Naji Asfar, Eric Strobel, Georgia Chrischilles, Louis-Gabriel Bellon, Khawam brothers, Kurt Flimm, Leo Mildenberg, Xavier Guerrand-Hermes, Gaston Maspero Archaeological Fund, Elsa Bloch-Diener, Mrs B. Ellison, Sir Roger Moss and the Thalassic Collection. MAMLUK ENAMELLED GLASS JUG WITH BIRDS
Ca. AD 1200. A Mamluk enamelled glass jug. The vessels shoulders are embellished with enamelled polychrome medallions, depicting standing birds alternating with coloured geometric motifs. The neck is large, tall and decorated with a protruding band and a red vegetal motif. The jug's handle connects from the short, flared rim to the pear shaped body, which is seated on a discoid foot. For similar see: L'arte della civiltà Islamica, La collezione Al Sabah, n. 257. Size: 190mm x 120mm; Weight: 350g. Provenance: Private London collection, acquired on the European art market pre 2000. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter. This piece is accompanied by a historical report from Alessandro Neri, an international Cultural Heritage expert based in Florence, Italy.
