Apollo Art Auctions is proud to announce the ?Fine Ancient Art & Antiquities ? The Prince Collection? sale. Commencing on the 26th of January at 1 p.m. GMT. The auction showcases a spectacular array of antiquities from the Egyptian, Roman, Greek, Viking, Medieval and Western Asiatic cultures ranging between 6000 BC to 1600 AD. The sale will be held live at our Central London showroom, 63 ? 64 Margaret Street, W1W 8SW, and online via the Apollo Art Auctions platform. The auction boasts items from the Prince collection from lot 1 to lot 261, as well as other incredible provenances such as the collections of Jacques Carre, Naji Asfar, Eric Strobel, Georgia Chrischilles, Louis-Gabriel Bellon, Khawam brothers, Kurt Flimm, Leo Mildenberg, Xavier Guerrand-Hermes, Gaston Maspero Archaeological Fund, Elsa Bloch-Diener, Mrs B. Ellison, Sir Roger Moss and the Thalassic Collection. JEMDET NASR RED MARBLE CYLINDER SEAL - ORIGINAL LAMBERT REPORT
Ca. 300 BC. A Jemdet Nasr red marble cylinder seal. The seal depicts one seated woman on a podium, holding a spouted jar in her hands, with five other surrounding her. Accompanied by a signed scholarly note by Professor Wilfrid George Lambert. Size: 28mm x 23.5mm; Weight: 34g. Provenance: Property of a London gallery; formerly with a Mayfair Art dealer S.A.; Ex. 1990s London collections, studied and catalogued by professor Lambert in the early 90s (with original note, signed by him). Previously in an old British collection formed since the 1960s.
