Apollo Art Auctions is proud to announce the ?Fine Ancient Art & Antiquities ? The Prince Collection? sale. Commencing on the 26th of January at 1 p.m. GMT. The auction showcases a spectacular array of antiquities from the Egyptian, Roman, Greek, Viking, Medieval and Western Asiatic cultures ranging between 6000 BC to 1600 AD. The sale will be held live at our Central London showroom, 63 ? 64 Margaret Street, W1W 8SW, and online via the Apollo Art Auctions platform. The auction boasts items from the Prince collection from lot 1 to lot 261, as well as other incredible provenances such as the collections of Jacques Carre, Naji Asfar, Eric Strobel, Georgia Chrischilles, Louis-Gabriel Bellon, Khawam brothers, Kurt Flimm, Leo Mildenberg, Xavier Guerrand-Hermes, Gaston Maspero Archaeological Fund, Elsa Bloch-Diener, Mrs B. Ellison, Sir Roger Moss and the Thalassic Collection. WESTERN ASIATIC COPPER ALLOY AXE HEAD
Ca. 1200 - 800 BC. A fine Western Asiatic cast copper alloy axe head with a vertical sharp blade, composed of a short, tubular socket with a thick, ribbed rim. The axe head has a bright brown patina. Size: 60mm x 145mm; Weight: 850g. Provenance: Private UK collection; Formerly acquired on the European art market from pre-2000 collections.
