SCARCE EGYPTIAN CARNELIAN BUST OF RAMSES II
New Kingdom, Ca. 1279 - 1212 BC. A carnelian bust depicting Ramses II wearing a nemes headdress. The face has a rounded forehead, large eyes, a broad nose, and subtly defined lips. The nemes extends from the brow to the shoulders, its front lappets rendered with parallel incisions indicating pleats. Reviewed by Simone Musso, consultant curator for Egyptian antiquities at the Stibbert Museum, Florence, Italy, member of the Nuri Archaeological Expedition.For similar see: Andrews C., Egyptian Amulets, British Museum Press, fig. 61.Size: 25mm x 20mm; Weight: 6gProvenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex.
