A Pair of Silver Shabbat Candlesticks, Jewish Silversmith Szmul Szkarlat, Poland 1888
This is a pair of silver candlesticks made in Poland in 1888. The maker of these candlesticks, Szmul Szkarlat, has his hallmark on the base, reading "S. Szkarlat". Szkarlat was a well known Jewish silversmith in Poland, and made different styles of silver candlesticks for the Jewish audience of Poland to purchase for the Sabbath. He also made silver hanukkah lamps.
