Birchas Yosef. First edition. New York 1919.
Novella on the weekly Torah portions authored by R. Boruch Yosef Zack. With lengthy addenda, including the author’s distinguished Chasidic lineage as well as the names of the author’s Chasidim who sponsored the publication of this sefer.
R. Boruch Yosef Zack (1887-1949), was a descendant of various great Chasidic dynasties including Yampola, Chernobyl, and Zhvill. As a son in law of the Kobriner Rebbe, R. David Shlomo Rabinowitz, he was brought to America by Kobriner Chasidim in New York to serve as their Rebbe. At first he served as the Rebbe of Anshei Kobrin on New York’s Lower East Side, later moving to Brooklyn where he led a Shul Degel Machne Yisroel.
He was amongst the first Chasidic Rebbes in America and this sefer is considered by bibliographers as one of the first Chassidic seforim printed in America.
