Information:
Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna (1853 - 1920) was the daughter of Russian Emperor Alexander II and Empress Maria Alexandrovna. In marriage the Duchess of Edinburgh and the Duchess of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. Karl Ivanovich Bergamasko (1830 - 1896) was a famous photographer of the XIX century, Italian citizen. In 1848, he arrived from Italy in St. Petersburg, worked in the Mikhailovsky Theater, but after an accident during a performance was sent to retire and he focused on photography. Bergamasco experimented a lot with light and stage setting. He died a few days before the coronation of Nicholas II, where he was invited for taking pictures.
