The Prophecy,XX Century

The Prophecy is an original artwork realized by Jean Bersier in the first half of the XX century.
Hand-signed in pencil by the artist on the lower right. Numbered in pencil on the lower left. Edition of 35 prints.
Very beautiful artwork representing some people in a forest. On the lower right, there is a skull, symbol of death, and some naked humans on the left. The figures recall the characters of the Universal Judgment in the Sistine Chapel. At the bottom of the composition, there are some fierce animals. Other mysterious symbols are hidden throughout the dark space.
The Prophecy was realized by Jean-Eugène Bersier (Paris, 1895 - Paris, 1978), a French painter and engraver, one of the pupils of Jean-Paul Lauriens, Maurice Denis, René Ménard, and René-Xavier Prinet. He became Professor of History of the Artistic Techniques at the école Estienne in Paris.
