Jean-Claude Richard, Abbé de Saint-non
Church of Saint Domenico, 1772
Etching and aquatint, 22,5 x 16,7 cm
Eglise de San Domenico is a wonderful etching and aquatint realized in 1772 by the Abbot of Saint-Non, after Jean-Honoré Fragonard. Titled, dated and signed on plate on the lower right margin.
This modern artwork, representing "Louis Carrache Eglise de San Domenico à Bòlogne" by Fragonard, is in very good conditions, except for a usual yellowing and some minor stains on paper beyond the marginal line of the matrix.
Jean-Claude Richard de Saint-Non, also known as Abbot of Saint-Non, or Abbé de Saint-Non (Paris, 1727 - 1791), was an engraver, draftsman, and humanist, as well as archaeologist, patron, and traveler. A portrait of him, made by his friend Jean-Honoré Fragonard, is held at the Louvre Museum.
White cardboard passepartout included: 32.5 x 25 cm.
