Far East Campaign 1926 1928
Commemorative cloth of the Far East Campaign of the Italian Royal Navy, San Marco battalion, years 1927-28. In blue silk and silk thread embroidery, at the top a cartouche that reads CAMPAIGN FAR EAST, on the sides a Grand Pavese with the flags of the nations that formed the international legation (Italy, Russia, France, Germany, Austria, England, United States , Hungary, Japan), in the upper part the eagle (the legation of international armies) that grabs the Chinese dragon in its claws. In the center, inside a life jacket with the words BATTAGLIONE SAN MARCO TIENTSIN CHINA we find the photograph of the sailor, the tricolor flags of the Kingdom of Italy, two lions of Venenzia, and the facade of the ERMANNO CARLOTTO barracks in Tientsin which housed the men del San Marco from 1926. In period frame, good general condition, two vertical tears on the blue silk that do not spoil the image, embroidery in excellent condition. Size 50x75 cm, frame 58x82 cm
