Ferdinand Kaufmann (1864 - 1942) American
Ferdinand Kaufmann (1864 - 1942) "Rockport Harbor" Oil on canvas board, Signed bottom right, measures 19 x 24.5 inches, w/frame 26 x 31 inches My husband Jim recently found my great grandfather (Ferdinand Kaufmann) on your web site. I have 9 pictures of his hanging in my home that my Mother gave me. She has 3 in her home. My great grandfather adored my mother, and often took her with him to watch him paint his landscapes. His daughter Yvonne, is my mother's mother. I understand that he had a son that died. My mother told me he was a Baron from Bavaria, came to the US, and lost his money in the stock market. He did paintings for a living, and my mother told me that he had people paying him $250 to paint a painting-this before he had even painted any of it! My mother's mother gave away many of his paintings as gifts, and I always wondered where some of them are now.
