"The Always Open Door" - Salvatore Testa
Oil Painting on Canvas, Depicting "The Always Open Door". Dimensions: 90x80 cm. "The Always Open Door" symbolizes the ultimate knowledge. Darkness represents the unknown, exhaling white birds as an intuitive symbol of freedom and bliss. The scene features a secluded wall with two light bulbs flanking a doorway. Two figures are seated on the door’s threshold, like seekers of knowledge who have reached the final stages of their solitary journey. This is the moment of hesitation; crossing the threshold means there is no return to the world and its deceptive allure. The hesitation comes from the mind, while the soul—the true essence of who we are—has no doubts and urges the wanderer toward the unknown, where eternity and true nature are found. In this realm, the physical body and sensory limitations are no longer necessary; only pure being, or Brahman, remains. The two figures display serene expressions, showing no fear of the darkness beyond the door. They begin to bond with its inhabitants, feeding the birds. Salvatore Testa is a contemporary Italian artist born in Naples, whose artistic journey began in early childhood with a passion for drawing. Initially pursuing studies in fine arts and later architecture, Testa ultimately left formal education to fully dedicate himself to an art career, specializing in poster design and painting. His prolific output includes over 6,000 figurative works sold worldwide, showcasing his versatile talent reminiscent of a symphonic composer and songwriter, despite being self-taught and unable to read music. Testa’s accomplishments extend beyond visual arts, having won numerous prestigious awards in both art and composition. He is also deeply captivated by research and knowledge that extend beyond academic and scientific boundaries, which are reflected in his artistic exploration and creative endeavors.
