First edition of this detailed account of the campaigns in which Colonel de Cavalaria Francisco Sá Chaves was involved during the Civil War. The first volume deals, in a sort of long introductory preamble, with the Peninsular War. According to Cristóvão Aires, it is "a documentary analysis, carried out under a lucid and impartial criterion, of the campaigns that [it] deals with, with safe criteria and well deduced from the facts that it points out and narrates, with elevation and concept." Rare.
