Attic black-figure neck amphora from the Workshop of Nikosthenes. About 530 BC. Height 23,1cm, ø corpus 15,5cm. On the neck below of a colored row of tongues a figural frieze. Between large eyes on one side the youthful Herakles fighting the Nemean lion and on the other side a crouching warrior. Below each handle a dolphin. Numerous details in red, the eyes are originally probably grounded in white. Inside of one handle a fingerprint. Published in 1972 and with copies of the Sotheby´s catalogue and the certificate from The Art Loss Register! The surface of unpainted areas are partially slightly rubbed off, otherwise intact.
