Technique: Laubholz-Tafel mit zwei aufgenagelten Rückseiten-Sponki (verloren). Eitempera auf Kreidegrund, Goldgrund, Nimben ornamental punziert

A LARGE ICON SHOWING THE BREAST-FEEDING MOTHER OF GOD (GALAKTOTROPHOUSA) Veneta-Cretan, circa 1500 Tempera on wood panel. The Mother of God shown half-length, supporting Christ. The Virgin wearing a maroon maphorion with a white veil underneath, the tips of the folds highlighted with beige and black brushstrokes. Christ’s brighter garments decorated with chrysography. The tooled haloes with scrolls, against a gold background. Vertical crack restored, minor areas of retouching. 59.6 x 49 cm.
