A MONUMENTAL ICON OF CHRIST IN MAJESTY FROM A CURCH ICONOSTASIS KIRCHEN-IKONOSTASE Russian, circa 1600 Russland, um 1600 Tempera on wood panel. The Saviour seated on a throne making a blessing gesture with his right hand and holding the book of Gospels with his left hand, his feet resting on a stool. Painted within a red and a blue mandorla encircled by seraphim. Set into a later panel (vrezka), the background stripped to gesso, minor areas of retouching. 93.2 x 79.5 cm.
