A VERY FINE ICON SHOWING THE RESURRECTION AND THE DESCENT INTO HELL Central Russian, Palekh, circa 1800 Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. Finely executed in great detail with gold highlights. The main scene, the titles and the icon framed by a border of foliate scrolls. On the reverse Cyrillic inscribed ‘Matvey Larionov Kuznetzov’, dated ‘1896’. Minor areas of retouching. 36 x 30.8 cm.
