Doppeltes Kowtscheg, Eitempera auf Kreidegrund, Tempera on wood panel with double kovcheg. Finely executed in great detail. The omophorion of the saint showing the Annunciation and the Nativity of Christ. The metal-gilt oklad richly engraved and chased. The lower border of the oklad partially cut, dirty surface, losses. On the reverse two labels ‘GIM’ in Cyrillic with inventory numbers. 31.5 x 28.5 cm. Okladrand teils entfernt. As the labels on the back prove, this icon was once owned by the State Historical Museum in Moscow. Almost certainly, this icon is one of those numerous examples legitimately sold abroad by the Soviet government in the 1920s and 1930s.
