Pair of potpourri vases in Meissen style, pressed diamond shield mark, after a rococo design by Johann Joachim Kändler around 1755, from a series of 28 disguised cupids, made around 1750 in Kändler's circle and bought by Madame Pompadour in 1752, screwed in two parts, polychrome painted and gilded, double-bellied body, richly decorated with plastic flowers and fruits, standing figures on the handles, 1 pair of disguised cupids 1 pair of gardener's children, on round foot with rocailles, vaulted openwork lid with lemon as lid knob, tws. bumped, h. 32 cm
