CHAPLIN CHARLES: (1889-1977) Incorporating a self-caricature as the Little Tramp - CHAPLIN CHARLES: (1889-1977) English film comedian, Academy Award winner. A good, large vintage signed and inscribed sepia 8 x 13.5 photograph, the image depicting the young, dapper Chaplin standing in a three-quarter length pose with his hands in his trouser pockets. Photograph by Pach Brothers of New York and bearing their pencil credit to the lower right corner. Signed by Chaplin in bold, dark fountain pen ink to the base of the image, ´To Jules from Charlie´ . The comedian has further added an original small pen and ink self-caricature in his hand to the lower right corner, depicting himself in a head and shoulders pose in his Little Tramp costume. To the side of the sketch appears the greeting Helleu in Chaplin´s hand, and with an arrow pointing in the direction of the self-caricature. A rare and impressive signed image.
