First edition, number 213 of 600 copies of the beautifully produced series of plates perpetuating the best costume designs of Leon Bakst, the first artistic director of the Ballets Russes. The plates record, among other creations, those for The Sleeping Princess, Daphnis and Chloe, The Marvelous Night, Fantastic Shop, Boris Godunov, etc.
Illustrated with 30 full-page plates, 20 of which are hand-colored costume designs; plus illustrations in the text, some in color, captioned tissue guards.
Original pictorial boards, original hand-colored pictorial dust jacket.
Dust jacket in а poor to good сondition. Binding, plates and text in fine condition. Complete copies with a dust jacket in any condition are rare. Usually plates from this book framed and sell separately.
