Hans Thoma
1839 Bernau - 1924 Karlsruhe - "Märchenerzählerin" - Radierung/Papier. No. 67. 13,3 x 14 cm, 31 x 25 cm (Sichtmaß). Sign. r. u.: Hans Thoma. Unter Glas gerahmt. Leicht stockfleckig und gebräunt. - Lit.: Th.-B. XXXIII, S. 47/51. Thoma absolviert 15jährig eine Lithografenlehre in Basel. Seit 1859 studierte er in Karlsruhe bei Des Courdes und Schirmer. 1866 war er mit O. Scholderer in Paris. Seit 1876 arbeitete und lebte er für 20 Jahre in Frankfurt/M. 1890 hatte Thoma seine erste Sonderausstellung im Münchener Kunstverein und er wurde Ehrenmitglied der Münchener Akademie. Anschluß an die Münchner Sezession. 1898 wurde er Königlich Preußischer Professor. Ein Jahr später wurde er an die Karlsruher Akademie berufen, zugleich wurde er dort Galeriedirektor. Thoma ist Ehrenbürger von Karlsruhe und Freiburg.
