HISTORY - BONAPARTE Napoleon III (1808 - 1873) - Autograph letter signed - Napoleonica - He attended officer training school in Thun with General Dufour. In 1836, he attempted to overthrow Louis-Philippe, but failed and had to leave France for the United States. On 11.12.1848, he was promoted to President of the Republic and Emperor of the French in 1853. He laid the foundations of the French colonial empire and helped Italy to free itself from Austrian domination.
