HISTORY - BOUFFLERS Louis-François (1644 - 1711) - Autograph letter signed - France - Appointed Marshal by Louis XIV in 1693, he defended Lille under siege in 1708, during the War of the Spanish Succession, by Prince Eugène and the Duke of Marlborough, capitulating after a three-month siege. At the battle of Malplaquet (1709), replacing the wounded Marshal de Villars, he led the retreat. Autograph letter signed, dated Versailles, 06.01.1685. Beautiful piece. He requests the sending of a detailed check of the officers of the regiment: ”… je vous prie, monsieur, de m'envoyer un contrôle exact des noms des officiers du régiment, tant en pied que réformes et de me marquer autant que vous le pouvez, l’ancienneté de leurs commissions ou brevets…”. 1 p.
