MORF Anthony
(Geneva, 16.06.1944 - 26.05.2016). He studied at the Geneva Conservatory, where he obtained a teaching and soloist diploma with honours. Winner of several international competitions, he is principal clarinettist of the Basel Symphony Orchestra and also teaches at the Lucerne Conservatory.

JACOTTET Christiane
(Lausanne, 18.05.1937 - Rivaz, 26.10.1999). She studied piano at the Conservatoire de la Chaux-de-Fonds, then at the Vienna Academy. In 1962, she taught at the Lausanne Conservatoire, where she created the harpsichord and early music classes. From 1975 she taught these same classes at the Geneva Conservatoire. She has given over 800 concerts in Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia and Japan.

BARBÉ Henriette
Born in Holland. Studied in Zurich, Amsterdam, Freiburg im Breisgau and Lucerne. She obtained her piano and harpsichord diplomas with distinction in Zurich and Lucerne.

PICHT-AXENFELD Edith
(Freiburg im Breisgau, 01.01.1914 - Freiburg im Breisgau, 19.04.2001). A pianist and harpsichordist, in addition to her work as a soloist she taught music at the Freiburg University of Music. She was a specialist in Johann Sebastian Bach.

HEYNA Siegfried
(1938 - Lausanne, 27.07.2009). Cornist with the OCL from 1964 to 1998.

MOLNAR Jozsef
(Debrecen, Hungary, 1931 - ). At the age of fourteen, he began playing the French horn and two years later joined a military brass band. In 1956, he joined the Philarmonia Hungarica in Vienna, and in 1958 he answered an advertisement from the OCL, where he played until his retirement in 1996. Since then he has played the Alpine horn.

GRAF Peter-Lukas
(Zurich. 05.01.1929 - ). He studied the flute with André Jaunet, then at the Paris Conservatoire, where he was awarded the 1st flute prize and a conducting diploma. Since 1962, he has been the first conductor of the Lucerne Opera. He teaches the flute at the Basel Academy of Music and lives in Binningen.

PEPIN André
(1907-04.06.1985). Romanian flautist, pedagogue and composer. He was a soloist with the OSR and taught at the Geneva Conservatoire.

GODEFROID Félix Dieudonné
(Namur, 1818 - 1897). Studied the harp at the Paris Conservatoire. After his first concerts, the young virtuoso embarked on a tour of Europe which led H. Berlioz to consider him the best harpist in Europe. He wrote a method for learning to play the harp.
Autograph letter signed Paris, 29.09.1886 to Mme Ambroise Thomas: "... Allez au fond de votre excellent cœur et trouvez y un bon mouvement, ou plutôt un bon battement pour une famille qui a bien souffert…”.

SHANN Edgar
(Zurich, 1919 - Grand vaud, 23.02.1984), oboist and teacher from Vaud, studied at the conservatories of Zurich, Geneva and Paris. Around 1950, he became principal oboist of the Orchestre de chambre de Lausanne, where in 1965 he became the first English horn player.
Signature on a programme page with photograph. Also signed by Victor Desarzen.

MONTMOLLIN Paul de
On 02.08.1921, he married Marthe Esther de Coulon.
Autograph letter signed Cortaillod le 21 Juin 1950: “…un cordial meri pour l’envoi de ton ouvrage “Le Drame de Saul de Tarse”. J’éspère que M. Joseph Lamber a su écrire une musique adéquate…”. 1 p. In-8. Archive holes.

GOGNIAT Joseph
(La Chaux de Fonds, 17.05.1881 - Mont Pèlerin, 27.05.1954). He attended the Ecole cantonale de Porrentruy, then the Collège St Michel in Fribourg and the Ecole Niedermeyer in Paris to perfect his organ playing. In 1915, he was offered the post of music teacher and organist at the Collège St Michel in Fribourg. From 1927 to 1953 he was titular organist at St Nicolas Cathedral in Fribourg.

LUY André
(Tramelan, 12.01.1927 - Lutry, 06.04.2005). After La Chaux-de-Fonds, Morges and St Imier, he was organist at Lausanne Cathedral from 1957 to 1992. He has played all over the world and recorded concerts with Maurice André on trumpet. He teaches at the Musikhochschule in Saarebrucken and at the Conservatoire in Lausanne. He has an honorary doctorate from the University of Lausanne.

BISCHOFF Justin
(24.05.1845 - 04.1927). Organist. He was a professor at the Lausanne Conservatoire. He married Maria Ghilionna.
Autograph letter signed to 15.03.1889: "... je m'adresse à Monsieur Chappuis, comme vous me le conseillez…”.

CREUTZBURG Klaus
(1936 - Oberweinmar, 09.12.2009). Organist from Weimar, he gave concerts at the Schlosskappelle in Altenburg. Programme dedicated in Nyon, 25.07.1965.

KOÏTO Kei
(Kyoto, 04.01.1950 - ). First prize in organ at Tokyo University of the Arts. She also studied psychology, philosophy and the aesthetics of music. She was awarded first prize with distinction for virtuosity and improvisation on the organ at Geneva Conservatoire. She teaches organ at the Lausanne Conservatoire.

AUBERT Johnny
In 1926, he married Germaine Tournier, a cellist. He taught at the Geneva Conservatory of Music for 43 years. With his wife, he founded the Maison Mainou in Vandoeuvres, which became a refuge for artists in difficulty.

BINET Jean
(Geneva, 17.10.1893 - Trélex, 24.02.1960). Musical training at the Institut Jaques-Dalcroze, then in Paris. In 1919, he founded the first Jaques-Dalcroze rhythm school in New York. In 1923, he taught in Brussels and returned to Trélex in 1929. By this time, he was only composing. He wrote music for the stage and for ballets. In 1951, he chaired the Société Suiise des Droits d'auteurs musicaux (Suisa) and in 1955, he was awarded the first Swiss composer prize.

AUCTION_INFORMATION_COLLECTION

We will propose a shipping option to all buyers.

 

If desired, the Buyer can collect it in person or arrange for collection with a trusted party.

 

All Items, manuscripts, and letters are subject to an Export License from the UK. We will request the License on behalf of the client. The cost for this service is £20.

 

Delivery and Storage

 

1. If the item is delivered within the UK, 20% VAT applies to postage. All sales outside of the UK are exempt from VAT.


All sales within the UK for all lots imported outside the UK for sale and placed under the Temporary Admission regime will be subject to import VAT payable at 5% on the hammer price. VAT at 20% will be added to the buyer’s premium. All items shipped outside the UK will be exempt from VAT charges.

 

2. Where needed, the Auctioneers will provide complete customs declarations for the Hammer Price, along with the Purchaser's premium. The Purchaser is responsible for any customs charges imposed by the importing country.

 

3. A fee will be charged for the packing of deliveries, which (subject to VAT at 20% only for UK clients)

 

4. An insurance charge of 2% (plus VAT for items delivered within the UK) will be applied to all invoices for packages sent from our offices.

 

5 Items that remain uncollected may be relocated to storage, and their release will only be initiated upon settlement of the corresponding storage expenses. Should the accumulated storage charges reach a threshold of 50% of the initial Hammer Price paid, or if three months pass from the transfer date, the following actions may be taken at our sole discretion. We reserve the right to re-sell any or all the stored lots without prior notification and in the manner we choose. The proceeds obtained from such re-sale will then be allocated to offset the incurred storage costs. If there is a surplus amount after settling the costs, the Buyer can request the remaining balance. However, it's important to note that the Buyer will remain responsible for covering any shortfall that may arise. This policy ensures the efficient management of stored items and aids in recovering storage-related expenses while upholding transparency and fairness in our proceedings.

 

6 Upon your request, we will facilitate the delivery of the purchased Lots, contingent upon the payment of a mutually agreed-upon fee. While Lots in transit are not automatically insured, we can certainly arrange insurance if you, as the Buyer, provide a written request for such coverage. The delivery process will be executed by the terms established with you, the Buyer. This service will be available exclusively during our working days and hours immediately following the sale unless we communicate any alternative arrangements. This approach ensures that your purchased items are delivered securely and in line with your preferences, allowing for insurance coverage if desired.


AUCTION_INFORMATION_PAYMENT

1. Each Purchaser must provide the auctioneers with their name, address, and, if required, proof of identity during a sale. Additionally, the Auctioneers may request the Purchaser to make a specified deposit.


2. . The Purchaser is responsible for paying the Hammer Price along with a premium of 26% (plus 20% VAT on the premium only for UK-delivered items). By placing a bid, the Purchaser acknowledges their awareness of this requirement and agrees to the Auctioneers receiving the mentioned commission. 

 

3. Payment for lots must be made in cash (limits apply), a banker's draft, a credit card, or a cheque guaranteed by the issuing bank. Lots will not be released if the payment is made via cheques from Purchasers unknown to the Auctioneers until the Purchaser's bank clears the cheques. We are unable to accept PayPal payments.

 

4. Overseas clients are requested to settle their accounts through bank transfers (details available upon request) or payment with Visa, Mastercard, or American Express. If payment is made using personal accounts in foreign currency, the client must ask us for the correct amount of foreign currency to send. We can accept payments only in GBP, USD, and EUR. The Auctioneer reserves the right to recover any shortfall resulting from bank charges or currency fluctuations from the Purchasers.

 

5. Payments for auction purchases can be made. If the buyer wants to send the funds directly to the Auctioneer crypto wallet, they can inform the Auctioneers, and all the necessary information will be supplied.

 

7. The Auctioneers will not release any lots until they receive full payment from the Purchaser.
