VALENTINO ROSSI -
The Yamaha YZR-M1 is Yamaha's flagship motorcycle and has been used in the MotoGP class of motorcycle racing since the year the class was established. Since 2002, the M1 has undergone numerous evolutions and modifications until it reached the Since 2002, with the introduction of MotoGP to replace the previous 500 class, this new model has taken the place of the previous Yamaha YZR 500 with a two-stroke engine.
The first version of the engine was a 4-stroke 4-cylinder in-line with liquid cooling and carburetor power supply. As for the frame, the same one already tested on the YZR 500 was initially used.

In 2003, the bike adopted electronic injection for the first time, a solution that it continued to use subsequently.
In 2004 the official Yamaha team hired Valentino Rossi who, at the end of the season, took the M1 to obtain the first world title. In this year the second official rider was still Checa, replaced the following year by Colin Edwards. For the seasons 2005 (the year in which the M1 won its second laurel), 2006 and 2007 the pairing of official Yamaha riders remained unchanged, consisting of Edwards and Rossi.
In 2007 with the regulatory transition to the 800 cm³ displacement, the engine was consequently updated. In 2012 the engine was brought back to the full displacement (1000 cm³) in the version with a 1000 cm³ engine.
