Standing and reclining nude in the open air, drypoint, c. 1927, monogram "PB" ligatured in the plate on the right, minimally browned, framed under mount and behind glass, plate dimensions approx. 16 x 22.5 cm. Artist info: frz. Painter, draughtsman, commercial artist, illustrator and graphic artist (1867 Fontenay-aux-Roses to 1947 Le Cannet near Cannes), 1885-88 studied law at the Sorbonne in Paris, 1889 sworn in as a lawyer, at the same time studied at the Académie Julian and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris from 1887, in 1890 together with Maurice Denis, Paul Sérusier and Èdouard Vuillard founding member of the artist group "Les Nabis", in 1891 successful as poster artist and gave up the profession of lawyer, attended the Salon des Indépendants, made the acquaintance of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, undertook study trips to Spain, Belgium, Holland, England, Italy, Algeria, Tunisia and southern France, from 1911 until the end of his life studio in the Parisian artists' house Les Fusains in the Rue Pigalle, 1925 acquisition of the Villa Le Bosquet in Le Cannet near Cannes, 1940 honorary member of the London Royal Academy of Arts, active in Paris and Le Cannet, Source: Thieme-Becker, Vollmer, AKL and Wikipedia.
