Portrait of a woman with her head propped up and her gaze directed towards the viewer (probably Portrait of Charlotte Berend-Corinth), catalogue raisonné Schwarz 55, etching in dark green, inscribed on the back of the frame "Lovis Corinth 1911 "Frauenkopf"", paper browned and stained, framed behind glass, plate dimensions approx. 12 x 8 cm. Artist's info: actually Franz Heinrich Louis Corinth, important German painter, lithographer and etcher. Painter, lithographer and etcher (1858 Tapiau/East Prussia until 1925 Zandvoort), studied at the Königsberg academy under Otto Günther and from 1880 at the Munich academy under Franz von Defregger and Ludwig von Loefftz, influenced by Wilhelm Trübner, learned as an etcher from Otto Eckmann, later in Paris and Bouguereau, next to Max Liebermann and Max Slevogt most important member of the Berlin Secession, 1918 awarded the title of professor by the Berlin Academy of Arts, 1921 honorary doctorate of the University of Königsberg, active in Berlin and Urfeld am Walchensee, sources: Thieme-Becker, Vollmer, Matrikel der Akademie München and Internet.
