View of isolated fishermen's huts in a flat landscape, woodcut, signed in pencil below the image on the right "Herbert Tucholski" and titled and dated on the left "Insel Rügen 1936", monogram "HT" ligatured in the stock at lower left, later print, minimally soiled, image dimensions approx. 12.5 x 16.5 cm, sheet dimensions approx. 40 x 36.5 cm. Artist's info: German painter and graphic artist (1896 Konitz/West Prussia until 1984 Berlin), 1913-15 attended the school of arts and crafts in Berlin, from 1915 military service in World War I., 1920-25 studied at the art academy in Berlin. World War I, 1920-25 studied at the Academy of Arts in Dresden with Ludwig von Hofmann, Max Feldbauer and Richard Müller, 1926-28 guest student at the Academy of Arts in Berlin, 1929-30 stayed at the Villa Romana and Villa Massimo, 1933 worked with Käthe Kollwitz and Hermann Blumenthal, 1964 appointed professor, 1979 National Prize of the GDR, Source: Vollmer, Eisold "Künstler in der DDR" and Wikipedia.
