Gerd Mackensen, "Don Quixote"
Don Quixote on horseback and his faithful companion Sancho Panza, mixed media, signed and dated in pencil below the depiction on the right "G. Mackensen (19)88" and numbered and titled on the left "4/5 -Don Quixote-", tear, slight signs of age, framed under mount and behind glass, dimensions of depiction approx. 60 x 43 cm. Artist's info: German painter and graphic artist (born 1949 in Nordhausen), 1964-68 apprenticeship as a refrigeration plant builder with Abitur, 1970-1975 studied at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Dresden with Gerhard Kettner and Günter Horlbeck, 1975-78 freelancer at the DEFA animation studio, 1975-80 freelancer at the children's book publishing house in Berlin, member of the VBK of the GDR, lives in Sondershausen since 2008, source: Eisold "Künstler in der DDR" and Wikipedia.
