Paul B. Pascal the Elder, Felucca on the Nile
Sailing Boat at Dusk, gouache, c. 1890, indistinctly signed lower left, inscribed "Paul Pascal" on the reverse in modern style, traces of age, beautifully exposed behind glass in a carved frame, sheet measures approx. 11.5 x 7.5 cm. Artist's info: French painter, watercolourist and orientalist (1832 Toulouse to 1903 or 1905 Quebec/Canada), pupil of the Academy of Fine Arts Madrid, undertook study trips to Italy, Morocco, Egypt, Syria and Turkey, attended the Paris Salon 1876-82 with oriental motifs, seascapes and landscapes in gouache, active in Paris, Source: Thieme-Becker, Bénézit and Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon".
