top right magnificent cartouche decorated with figures and coats of arms and inscribed herein "Saxoniae Superioris Circulus, ob oculos sistens Ducatum et Electoratum Saxoniae ... Matth. Seutter S.C.M.G.. Augustanum", mileage indicator at lower left, depicting the area between Wolfenbüttel in the north, Melnik in the east, Eger (Cheb) in the south and Heiligenstadt in the west, partly coloured copper engraving, c. 1750, centre fold mark, somewhat stained, framed under mount and behind glass, image dimensions c. 49 x 56 cm. Artist info: also Saiter, Seiter, Seuter Seyder, German cartographer, engraver and publisher (1678 Augsburg to 1757 Augsburg), son of the goldsmith Matthäus I., from 1697 apprenticeship with Johann Baptist Homann in Nuremberg, after his return to Augsburg he worked for the publishing house of Jeremias Wolff, in 1710 he founded his own publishing house with a printing press, in 1731 he was appointed imperial geographer, after Seutter's death in 1757 the publishing house was continued by his son Albrecht Karl (1722-1762), his son-in-law Tobias Conrad Lotter (1717-1777) and the long-time collaborator Johann Michael Probst (d. 1805), Source: Thieme-Becker and Internet.
