Snowy path lined by individual trees leading into a dense fir forest, finely nuanced colour woodcut, signed and dated in pencil below the image on the right "E. Buchwald-Zinnwald (19)38", inscribed "Originalholzschnitt" on the left and titled "Waldweg im Erzgebirge: Nebel u. erster Schnee" in the centre, slightly browned, framed under mount and behind glass, dimensions approx. 27 x 20 cm. Artist's info: actually Buchwald, Germ. Landscape painter, draughtsman, etcher and wood engraver (1884 Dresden - 1972 Krefeld), first promoted by court counsellor Professor Weiland Simonson Castelli, studied 1903-12 at the academy of arts in Dresden under Osmar Schindler and Richard Müller, later under Carl Bantzer, from 1907 master pupil of Gotthard Kuehl, 1904 convalescent leave and first stay in Zinnwald in the Osterzgebirge, from then on regular stays here and epithet 'Zinnwald', 1928-30 trips to Italy (Florence, Venice) and 1932-36 to Switzerland, first active in Oberrochwitz, later in Loschwitz near Dresden, 1968 moved to Krefeld, member of the Deutscher Künstlerbund, Source: Vollmer, Dressler and Internet.
