Vine reminiscent of a figure with raised arms, etching, signed and dated "Uhlig (19)93" in lead on the right and inscribed "Belegex." on the left, further dedication "für Winfried Henkel mit herzlichem Dank Max Uhlig", dimensions of image approx. 28 x 17 cm, dimensions of sheet approx. 43.5 x 32.5 cm. Artist's info: Germ. Painter, draughtsman and graphic artist (born 1937 in Dresden), 1951-54 apprenticeship as type and sign painter, 1954-55 type draughtsman at the TU Dresden, 1955-60 studied at the HBK Dresden with Hans Theo Richter and Max Schwimmer, 1960-61 freelance, 1961-63 master student at the German Academy of Arts in Berlin with Hans Theo Richter, afterwards freelance, also worked as a contract printer at the Künstlerhaus Dresden-Loschwitz until 1979, study visits to Brodowin near Chorin and (together with Gerda Lepke) to Lübow near Penzlin, Glowe and in the Erz Mountains, 1982-98 summer residencies at Deutschneudorf, 1989 guest lecturer at the Nuremberg Academy, 1991 guest professor at the International Academy of Art and Design Hamburg, 1995-2002 professor at the HBK Dresden, 1996 destruction of numerous works in the fire of the Künstlerhaus Loschwitz, undertook study trips to Bulgaria, Poland, London, Central Asia, the USA, Denmark and Holland, member of the VBK of the GDR, member of the Saxon Academy of Arts, received numerous honours, including the 1887 Käthe Kollwitz Prize, 1998 Hans-Theo-Richter-Prize and the Saxon Order of Merit, 2005 Guest of Honour of the German Academy Rome in the Villa Massimo, temporarily resident in Berlin Pankow, 1959-96 in the Künstlerhaus Dresden-Loschwitz, from 1996 in Dresden-Helfenberg, since 1991 working stays in the South of France (Faucon) each spring and autumn , source: Vollmer, Eisold "Künstler in der DDR" and Internet.
